Argentina international Nahuel Tetaz Chaparro to join Bristol Bears on short-term deal

Bristol Bears have confirmed the signing of Argentina international Nahuel Tetaz Chaparro on a short-term deal.

Chaparro started his professional rugby career with Pampas XV in 2010 and had represented Stade Francais, Newport Gwent Dragons, Lyon and Jaguares.

He will head to Ashton Gate in January next year and will remain with Bristol until the end of the 2020/21 season.

The 31-year-old made his debut for the Pumas in 2010 and has gone on to play 62 Tests with his last appearance coming in the tri-nations Rugby Championship that recently concluded in Australia where Argentina finished second after two drawn games against the Wallabies along with a historic first-ever win over New Zealand.

“We’re delighted to be able to bring in a player of Nahuel’s quality and experience in the New Year to bolster our front-row options,” said Lam to the official website of the club.

“With the 2021 Six Nations ahead, Kyle [Sinckler] could be unavailable for up to ten weeks so it’s important to ensure we have plenty of quality depth and cover in this key position.

“His performances in the recent Rugby Championship, where Argentina finished second, impressed us - especially his display in the famous win over the All Blacks.

"Nahuel plays both sides of the scrum which will be invaluable for our team during a busy period for the team.”

Bristol Bears are positioned third in the Gallagher Premiership with two wins from three games and will face Harlequins next in the Boxing Day game at Twickenham Stoop.
