Allianz Premier 15s: Harlequins storm past DMP Durham Sharks on opening weekend

Harlequins got the new Allianz Premier 15s season off to a sensational start

The first round of the new Allianz Premier 15s season started in fine style as Harlequins scored 17 tries to breeze past DMP Durham Sharks.

Gerard Mullen's side racked up a century as they won 103-0 with Shaunagh Brown, Jess Breach and Abbie Ward all getting in on the act for Quins.

Champions Saracens were made to work hard for their 34-25 win at Allianz Park against an excellent Worcester Warriors Women outfit.

Two tries from Georgie Lingham helping them to a first win of the new campaign whilst Jo Yapp's side did take home a bonus point for their valiant efforts.

Newcomers Exeter Chiefs Women tasted defeat in their Allianz Premier 15s debut at Gloucester-Hartpury Women's RFC. 

Red Roses Kelly Smith and Zoe Aldcroft both crossed over as the home side took the bonus point victory 34-14.

Aldcroft scored twice, with Connie Powell, Hannah Jones and Daisy Fahey also going over. Exeter captain Linde van der Velden scored their first try in the competition.

The league's other newcomer,  Sale Sharks Women, were also defeated by an experienced Loughborough Lightning.

Just three points separated the teams in the closing moments, but two late tries from Lark Davies sealed the 29-7 win for Loughborough.
