Newcastle Red Bulls have confirmed that Alex Hearle has signed a new two-year contract with the Gallagher PREM club.

The 27-year-old joined Newcastle from Gloucester in the summer of 2024 and has become a regular presence across the centre and wing positions. Since arriving on Tyneside, Hearle has made 38 appearances and scored 10 tries.

A Shropshire native, Hearle came through the Worcester Warriors academy before gaining PREM experience with Gloucester.

Hearle said he was pleased to commit his future to a club he believes is moving in the right direction, citing the support of the fans, the environment created by the Red Bulls project, and the opportunity to continue developing as a player.

“I’m delighted to be staying in the North East," he told the club's official website.

“Newcastle is an exciting club with fantastic supporters, and there’s an amazing future here.

“I love the winning mind-set of Red Bull and their commitment to developing rugby in our local area".

Newcastle Red Bulls sporting general manager Neil McIlroy said retaining Hearle was a priority, pointing to his try-scoring ability, line-breaking threat and growing leadership within the squad.

“Alex has performed at a consistently high level throughout his time with us, and it was always a priority for us to retain his services.

“As well as his try-scoring and line-breaking ability he has increasingly taken on more of a leadership role as one of our senior players, setting a real example with the way he prepares and looks after himself".
