Premiership Rugby has confirmed that the latest round of pre-season Covid-19 testing has returned 17 positive cases.

A total of 718 tests were conducted on Monday, out of which 11 players and six staff members across eight clubs returned positive. They will be isolated from the rest of the members according to the guidelines.

"Those who tested positive and their close contacts are isolated and assessed in line with the PHE-agreed guidelines," read the statement from Premiership Rugby.

"No specific details as to clubs or individuals will be provided under any circumstances."

This is the second round of pre-season testing conducted by Premiership Rugby with the initial screening returning 11 positive cases from 520 tests.

The 2020/21 season of Premiership Rugby is set to kick-off from 20th November.
