Will Rugby be forced to follow Football in Coronavirus outbreak?

Rugby union in England has been suspended by the Rugby Football Union, with no games to take place until at least April 14th.

The decision is based on recommendations made regarding mass gatherings of people and non-essential travel.

This has come at the right time, it is unfair to ask players, staff and officials to travel around the country and put themselves at risk. However, things have now turned to when and if the season can get back going again. While rugby would love to make its own decisions in this matter, it may have to take a lead from the much bigger sport of football.

Could Football Decide on Behalf of Every Sport?

The majority of sports are postponed or cancelled right now, and many are looking for a way to come back. However, declaring yourself in a position to come back and stage games is a far bigger decision to make than cancelling games, and something that needs to be done collectively.

It is unlikely that we will see a situation where selected sports decide it is safe to come back and others decide it isn’t. This is more than likely going to be a united front and one that is set to be led by football. That is the biggest sport and one that is going to want to take a lead on things.

What we all want however we get there, is games to be back again in a safe environment. This may be behind closed doors, or it could be with fans but getting sport back up and running is something that we all want to see. This will be a boost for punters too, who are struggling to find things to bet on at the moment.

Rugby is a popular sport to bet on, with many placing a bet on the games each week. You can also bet on the rugby in most betting apps. In this list, you’ll find the best ones for UK players. Getting rugby back up and running would be great for those who like to bet, and of course for those who love to watch their local games.

It remains to be seen how this will be decided, but it would come as no surprise for sport to work together, with football taking the lead and making big decisions surrounding when it is fair and the right time to return to action.
