Australia international Nathan Charles has penned a short-term deal with the Aviva Premiership club Wasps.

Charles, who has played four Tests for Australia since his debut in 2014 will provide an injury cover to the Ricoh Arena outfit after signing a three-month contract.

The 28-year-old made his professional rugby debut with Gloucester in 2011 and had brief spells with Clermont and Bath.

"We are pleased to be able to bring a player of Nathan's abilities into the squad to bolster our options at hooker," said Wasps rugby director Dai Young.

"With Tommy Taylor and Tom Cruse both sidelined, we have been short on experience and availability in that position, and Nathan's addition provides us with some needed back-up in such a key area.

"I am sure Nathan will add a lot to this group with his physicality and ability around the park, as well as at the set-piece."

Wasps are currently positioned ninth in the Aviva Premiership after managing just three wins from seven games.
