We finally have a clear leader in National Two South as the Old Albanian moved to the summit of this division after only one game of 2016.

Sale FC and Preston Grasshoppers shared the points in their first game of the New Year in a 22-22 draw at Heywood Road.

It will certainly be a Merry Christmas for Cambridge this year as they sit top of National Two South, even if it is only on points difference.

They may have both won 12 games this season, but as we wave goodbye to 2015 in National Two South, we still are without a clear leader heading into the New Year.

We are now in the penultimate weekend before the Christmas break and we still have no idea who will be in top spot heading into 2016.

There were no postponements in National Two South this weekend and there is still no clear daylight between the Old Albanian and Cambridge as both avoided putting a foot wrong in Round 13.

Sedgley Park closed the gap to three points at the top of National Two North as they beat leaders Macclesfield 12-27 after a superb second half display.

Cambridge and the Old Albanian go into this weekend level on points at the top of National Two South as both sides battle it out to be in the Number One spot come the Christmas break.

We are still no closer to knowing who will be top of National Two South when the Christmas break arrives in just three weeks’ time as Cambridge and the Old Albanian are tied at the summit.

It’s amazing to think we are only four games away from the end of the National League rugby year and the promotion race in National Two South is certainly gathering momentum as the final fixture of November is upon us.

The Old Albanian moved top of National Two South for the first time since relegation into this division after their victory over Taunton, while Cambridge are level on points with the side from St Albans.

The huge fixtures are coming thick and fast in National Two South and it doesn’t come bigger than the top two taking on each other this weekend with just a point separating the two sides.

Cambridge were knocked off top spot this weekend as they were held to a draw allowing Taunton Titians to move back to the summit of National Two South after a four week absence.

National Two South remains extremely tight at the top after Cambridge, Taunton and the Old Albanian were all victorious this weekend.

Macclesfield made it eight straight league wins as they defeated Sandal 29-3 at Priory Park.

National Two South returns this Saturday with Cambridge looking to maintain their stay at the top of the division, but face another tough challenge in Clifton.

With the World Cup now over, our attention will turn back to the domestic game and after reading an opinion piece from Mark Smith of the Newcastle Chronicle about the state of the game in the North East, we compared it to the North West.

Three teams entered Week Three of National Two South all on level points at the top of the division. However, after this round of fixtures, Taunton are now out there all by themselves and lead the way. Old Albanian were held to a draw against Southend, Redruth just keep on winning while Canterbury moved into the top three.

Old Albanian, Taunton and Redurth are the only three teams with a perfect record in National Two South and all three face away trips this weekend.
