Argentina have suffered a major setback with flyhalf Tomas Albornoz and scrumhalf Gonzalo Garcia both ruled out of Saturday’s Rugby Championship clash against South Africa at Twickenham.

Albornoz, who recently returned from a hand injury and scored off the bench in the 67-30 loss in Durban, picked up another injury that ends his tournament. Garcia is unavailable after sustaining a concussion in a late collision with teammate Guido Petti.

Coach Felipe Contepomi has called up Gonzalo Bertranou and Nicolas Roger as replacements. Both will link up with the squad in London as Argentina attempt to regroup after back-to-back defeats.

The Springboks arrive with momentum after dominant wins over both New Zealand and Argentina, leaving them top of the standings and favourites to clinch the Rugby Championship title. They now are at 15 points - one above second placed New Zealand, who will be locking horns with Australia in the final round.

With Albornoz and Garcia sidelined, the Pumas’ attack will depend heavily on fresh combinations and squad depth as they look to salvage pride after managing two wins from five matches.
