Toby Flood Previews Tigers-Saints Clash

Watch as Leicester Tigers captain Toby Flood looks ahead to this weekend's Aviva Premiership derby clash with rivals Northampton Saints.

The two sides met in last year's Premiership final, with Flood's side prevailing 37-17, even though Flood himself was unable to complete the match due to injury.

The win for the Tigers secured them their 10th English title and having both started the seaon well, the clash at Welford Road is likely to be the highlight of round five.

"It's the East Midlands derby and it always comes down to a huge contest between two sides who just want to tear into each other," Flood, now Leicester captain, said.

"Ever since I’ve been involved at Leicester it’s been the biggest game on the fixture list. People in the surrounding area let you know how important it is. Cockers (Richard Cockerill, Leicester Tigers’ Director of Rugby) lets you know how important is. Things really get amped up, and I can’t wait."

Flood was speaking at the home of Bowdon RUFC’s under-12s near Manchester. They were the lucky recipients of a training session from him as part of a special prize won at last season’s Sale Sharks Land Rover Premiership Rugby Cup.

The excited youngsters were put through their paces by Toby, who took them through a number of drills and taught them some tricks of the trade; all of which can now be put to good use in the season ahead. The session finished with a training match which Toby refereed, providing the aspiring rugby players a chance to put into practice what they had learnt from the morning’s session.

The Land Rover Premiership Rugby Cup is a series of national grassroots festivals run in conjunction with Premiership Rugby.
