Springbok hooker Malcolm Marx will miss the upcoming Japan Rugby League One season for Kubota Spears following an injury.
The 29-year-old picked up a knee injury during a training session in the recently concluded Rugby World Cup campaign in France and was replaced by Handre Pollard in the squad.
He joined Kubota Spears in 2021 and is contracted with the club until May 2025.
“Unfortunately, due to my injury I won’t be able to play next season but I will be back for the following season, hopefully,” Marx said in a video message.
“Please carry on your amazing support towards the team. I think the team and everybody really appreciate it.”
Kubota Spears were the winners of the 2023/23 season having defeated Saitama Wild Knights 17-15 in the final.
