South Africa captain Siya Kolisi said he is excited about the prospect of making debut for the French club Racing 92.
Kolisi is fresh from leading South Africa to a World Cup title and has now joined the Racing squad ahead of their weekend game against La Rochelle.
“I can’t wait to play, honestly. That’s the missing part,” Kolisi told Canal+ earlier on Sunday.
“Being on the field is what I’m looking forward to most.”
Meanwhile, Racing 92 owner Jacky Lorenzetti in an interview with Midi Olympique said Kolisi can add a lot of value to the squad.
“Siya arrives at the club this Monday and Trevor Nyakane will not be long. There will be a positive impact on the group, I think,” he told Midi Olympique.
“Siya, he radiates. He’s someone quite extraordinary. He gives me the impression of being a tractor that will pull the whole team behind him.
“Kolisi reminds me of Dan Carter but in a different style, certainly with a little more flesh, a little more human,” Lorenzetti added. “They say he has political ambitions after rugby and that doesn’t surprise me from what I know about the guy.
“He is more unifying than anyone and even created an association a few years ago to help children in the townships in South Africa. In my youth, I did a bit of motorsport and I loved a driver named Ayrton Senna; he was a driving genius but he also had a mystical dimension that I found in Siya Kolisi.”
Racing 92 are positioned second in the Top 14 table with five wins from seven matches.
