Rassie Erasmus has named a 36-man squad for the Springboks’ November European tour, with Zachary Porthen the only uncapped player included.
He joins a squad of seasoned internationals as South Africa prepare for a series of high-profile Tests.
Porthen, a young prop from the Stormers and former Under-20 captain, has impressed through South Africa’s junior ranks and has now earned his first senior call-up.
Erasmus described the inclusion as “a vote of confidence in the next generation” and praised the depth of the group beyond the regular Test starters.
The tour schedule begins with a match against Japan at Wembley Stadium in London on 1 November.
The squad will then face France on 8 November, Italy on 15 November, Ireland on 22 November and conclude against Wales on 29 November.
According to official fixture releases, the tour will focus on Europe-based Tests rather than club side matches.
