Sharks have announced the signing of Springboks international Aphiwe Dyantyi following a four-year ban on doping.

The 28-year-old was suspended from all forms of rugby in December 2019 after he was tested positive for performance-enhancing substances methandienone, methyltestosterone and LGD-4033.

Dyantyi, who was named the World Rugby Breakthrough Player in 2018 will be eligible to return back to the game in August and Sharks have secured his services for the 2023/24 season.

"More than anything, I'm just excited to be back. I just trust that everyone is as excited as I am to see what I can do. I only promise to give my best for the jersey," said Dyantyi.

Prior to the suspension, Dyantyi was part of Golden Lions and Lions for three years and had represented the Springboks in 13 Tests scoring six tries.
