The British & Irish Lions have added three Scotland players—Rory Sutherland, Ewan Ashman, and Darcy Graham—to their squad in Australia.
The call-ups bring the touring party to 44 and are intended as cover for the midweek match against a First Nations & Pasifika XV next Tuesday in Melbourne.
All three Scots were originally touring New Zealand with Scotland, but have now been withdrawn to join the Lions.
Wing Darcy Graham is expected in Brisbane today, while Sutherland (prop) and Ashman (hooker) will link up in Melbourne on Sunday after Scotland’s match against Samoa.
The Lions’ head coach made this decision to protect Test players from being overused, especially during the gap between the first and second Tests.
Graham was shown a red card in Scotland’s recent 29–14 loss to Fiji after receiving two yellow cards. However, he will not be suspended, as the offences were deemed technical rather than foul play.
This allows Graham to join the Lions squad without delay. Sutherland brings experience from the 2021 Lions tour, while Ashman adds strong front-row depth.
These additions follow earlier reinforcements: England hooker Jamie George and Ireland prop Tom Clarkson were also called into the squad in recent days.
