The 29-year-old has made 29 appearances for the AJ Bell Stadium outfit in the last two seasons including 14 Premiership games and went on to win Sale Sharks Community Player of the Year award at the end of the 2018 season.

Sale Sharks director of rugby Steve Diamond wished Tarus good luck and is confident that his skill will benefit the Italian club.

“Alex has been a great lad to have around Carrington and we wish him every success in the future.

"I am sure he will be a great asset to Zebre in the Pro 14.”

Tarus has played 33 Tests for Romania since his debut coming in 2013 and was last seen in March when they faced Russia in Six Nations B tournament.
