Springbok coach Rassie Erasmus described his captain Siya Kolisi as “humble” and respected by fans ahead of South Africa's match against France in Paris.

The fixture will mark Kolisi’s 100th Test appearance.

Kolisi made his Springbok debut in 2013 against Scotland and became the first Black South African team captain in 2018.

Under his leadership, the team won back-to-back Rugby World Cups in 2019 and 2023.

Erasmus highlighted how Kolisi’s modest upbringing in Zwide and his grounded personality have made him a celebrated figure both on and off the field.

“Whenever he gets the chance, he always tries to connect with South Africa because he understands what South Africa is about." said Erasmus.

“His humility is one of the standout attributes for me.

“He has been on the tough side of being a South African and has grown to be one of the great leaders in South Africa".

The upcoming Autumn Series Test against France—following their tight 29-28 World Cup quarter-final defeat to South Africa—adds context to Kolisi’s milestone.
