The Rugby Football Union (RFU) confirmed on Tuesday that Prince Harry will take over from The Queen as new patron of the board.
Prince Harry has been the deputy patron since 2010 and will be seen in the new role in next year. The Queen has held the position since 1952, when she took over from her father King George VI following his death.
RFU president Peter Baines thanked The Queen for her valuable support and is now looking forward to the association with Prince Harry.
"It has been a privilege and an honour to have The Queen as Patron of the RFU for over 60 years," Baines said.
"She has been a fantastic supporter of the union and we thank her for that and her contribution to the game of rugby in England.
"We welcome Prince Harry as our new Patron. He has been Vice Patron for a number of years already and a regular at England Tests at Twickenham."
The Queen has also attended various matches held at Twickenham and also attended World Cup matches in 1991 and 1999 which was held in United Kingdom.
Meanwhile, Prince Harry was also the Honorary President of the 2015 Rugby World Cup, which was also held in England.
