Niall and Rory Scannell sign new deals with Munster Rugby

Munster Rugby have confirmed that Niall Scannell and Rory Scannell have signed contract extensions with the Irish province.

Niall made his professional rugby debut with Munster in 2013 and has racked up 155 appearances for the club scoring 21 tries. He also captained Munster for the second time last weekend.

The 30-year-old made his Ireland debut in 2017 and has earned 20 Test caps while also featuring for them during the 2019 Rugby World Cup.

Rory, a product of Munster Academy, made his senior debut in 2014 and has made 171 appearances. He also became the youngest player to make 100 appearances for the club when he reached the milestone in 2019 at the age of 25.

He also played three times for Ireland that came in 2017.

Meanwhile, Edwin Edogbo has signed his first professional contract and will progress to the senior squad of the province ahead of the 2024/25 season. He is currently sidelined with an ankle injury.

The province also confirmed that John Ryan will be returning back to Munster after being part of Chiefs in the 2023 Super Rugby Pacific season.

Ryan previously played for Munster between 2011 and 2022 with over 200 appearances. He also has played 24 Tests for Ireland while also playing in the 2019 Rugby World Cup.
