New Zealand drop Mark Telea for Rugby World Cup quarter-final against Ireland

New Zealand head coach Ian Foster drop winger Mark Telea from the matchday squad for the upcoming Rugby World Cup quarter-final to be played at Stade de France on Saturday.

Telea, who has scored three tries from two matches has been left out for a breach of team protocol according to Foster with with Leicester Fainga’anuku retaining his place at left wing and Will Jordan at right.

"He breached protocol, nothing major but it kept him out of selection," he said.

"It says volumes about what we stand for and speaks volumes for the team.

"It happens, it is what it is. It was pretty clear cut and I do not want to talk about it any more."

Beauden Barrett returns to fullback with Jordie Barrett and Reiko Ioane forming midfield partnership. Richie Mounga continues to retain his place at fly-half forming halfback partnership with Aaron Smith.

The second row sees the experienced duo of Scott Barrett and Brodie Retallick returning while Ethan de Groot returns to take position at loosehead while Ardie Savea replaces Luke Jacobson in the back row.

The bench comprises of Dane Coles, Tamati Williams, Fletcher Newell, Sam Whitelock, Dalton Papali’i, Finlay Christie, Damian McKenzie and Anton Lienert-Brown.
