Leicester Tigers is set to hire the services of former England and Ireland coach Mike Ford for the remainder of the season as they seek revival after a dismal performance in the Premiership.

The Welford Road outfit are currently at the 10th place in the Gallagher Premiership table with six wins from 17 games and are now in the battle to avoid relegation with 12th place Newcastle Falcons just three points behind.

Ford has already coached Premiership teams Saracens and Bath Rugby before joining Toulon in 2016/17 season. He took in charge of United States based club Dallas Griffins in 2017 and was also a temporary coach of Germany as they missed the qualification to the World Cup narrowly.

During his time with Bath, he also guided the Recreation Ground outfit to a Premiership final in 2015.

Ford will be in charge of the game plan of the Tigers while Geordan Murphy will continue to perform the head coach role as the Tigers hope for a turnaround.

Leicester Tigers will face table toppers Exeter Chiefs next in the 18th round of the Gallagher Premiership at Welford Road on 6th April.
