Meyer Promises Attacking Mindset

South Africa coach Heynke Meyer says his side will go out with an attacking mindset when they take on Argentina in their opening game of the Rugby Championship 2013.

Talking ahead of Saturday's match in Johannesburg, he outlines his belief that attack is the best form of defence.

"We want to go out with an attacking mindset and we want to attack, to openly show that attack is the best form of defence," he said.

"So I believe they are brilliant players, they bring a lot of speed to the back line with (Jean) de Villiers as well and Bryan (Habana). So I think it's an exciting back line. They are obviously going to make mistakes but the best back lines in the world make mistakes, we just need to back them."

Meyer's recall of scrum-half Fourie du Preez has been a huge talking point ahead of the match but he confirmed why the veteran of 62 caps will be on the bench with Ruan Pienaar starting at number 9.

"It's unfair to expect Fourie (du Preez), it's his off-season now, he's just coming back, so he hasn't played any rugby, the same as Ruan (Pienaar) for that matter.

"But I just felt it's the right thing to do for the team as well, to ease Fourie into the team, he'll definitely get game time going forward, or in the game as well. But Ruan has been the guy, the number one choice, and been here and he's done great for his country."
