Argentina Players Ready For Rugby Championship

Watch as Argentina players talk about the upcoming Rugby Championship, which kicks off this weekend, their preparation and the new scrum engagement laws.

Argentina begin their campaign by taking on South Africa in Johannesburg and will be hoping to build on last year's debut outing where they were competitive throughout, but only picked up a home draw against the Springboks.

Hooker Eusebio Guinazu believes that the new scrum laws may even help Argentina, who have traditionally relied on the power of their forwards to gain them an advantage.

"I think it will be like a longer scrum and maybe a deeper scrum, if you know what I mean. So I think it's more like our Argentinian scrum culture so hopefully we'll be able to do well," he said.

Meanwhile, second row Patricio Albacete knows that the team need to make a step up from their performances last season.

"We have to improve I think in every aspect of it, and it was a very good experience for us to play last year. So we are looking forward to improve every year," he added.

He went on to say that Argentina's build-up, which included two wins over a New South Wales Barbarians team, has been good.

"Our build-up has been very good. The truth is that we had a lot of physical work since we went to Pensacola (in the United States) and we continued it in Buenos Aires.

"I believe these last two matches helped the team to build confidence. Our will is strong and I believe that, although we know it's going to be a tough match, we want to keep developing and, who knows, maybe the result of this development is to win at the championship."
