England have announced just one change to their starting line-up for the second and final Test against Argentina, with 28-year-old Luke Northmore set to make his international debut.
The Harlequins centre replaces Henry Slade, who sustained a hand injury during the first Test in La Plata and has been ruled out of the remainder of the tour.
Northmore, who is yet to be capped, joins Seb Atkinson in the midfield. Atkinson himself earned his first cap last weekend after impressing in a warm-up fixture against a France XV at Twickenham’s Allianz Stadium.
The other options in the squad for the centre role include Oscar Beard and Max Ojomoh, both also uncapped, underlining the youthful and experimental nature of the touring side.
Despite Slade’s injury, the rest of the matchday squad remains unchanged. England will go into the game with a bench stacked with six forwards and just two backs, again opting not to name a dedicated fly-half replacement.
Head coach Steve Borthwick praised the players' commitment in training, noting, “The players have trained with real focus and intensity this week, determined to keep improving in every area. We're expecting a tactical battle as well as a tough, physical contest.”
Saturday’s Test in Argentina also marks the end of Immanuel Feyi-Waboso’s suspension. The winger was banned following a red card for a high tackle during the game against France last month.
Though not eligible for selection this week, Feyi-Waboso has remained with the squad and is expected to be available for the one-off Test against the United States in Washington on 19 July.
England already have a 1-0 lead in the two-game series having won the first game with a 12-35 margin in La Plata.
