Former Wales U20 international Luke Hamilton will be joining the English Premiership side Leicester Tigers for the upcoming season from French club Agen.

The 24-year-old had previously associated with Scarlets, Cardiff RFC and Cardiff Blues before he made a decision to switch to France where he represented Agen in Top 14 tournament this season.

Even though Agen is languishing at the bottom of the table with 21 points from 23 games this season, Hamilton was among the leading tacklers in the tournament.

Director of rugby at Leicester Richard Cockerill said that the club was seeking a replacement for the outgoing duo Jordan Crane and Laurence Pearce.

Cockerill is also confident that Hamilton's experience of playing in the Top 14 will hugely benefit Leicester.

"We have been looking for another player to join our back-row options with Jordan Crane and Laurence Pearce moving on next season, and we are delighted that Luke has now agreed to join us.

"He can play across the back-row and gives us some good options there.

"He is a young man with some good experience in club rugby in Wales, and he has done very well in the testing environment of French rugby."

Apart from Hamilton, other new additions of Leicester, including Matt Toomua, JP Pietersen, George McGuigan, Tom Brady and Peter Cilliers will join in a pre-season training this summer.
