London Welsh goes into liquidation

RFU Championship side London Welsh have been granted temporary license which will allow them to play their next two fixtures in the tournament.

The club has lost almost half of the players, but is confident of fulfilling the next two games after 19 players remain with the side while seven others were signed on loan.

"It's been a challenge. We have had to rebuild a squad in quick time," head coach James Buckland told BBC.

"What we have lost in terms of players, we make up in character.

"Every player that goes on the pitch on Saturday will not be thinking about the situation the club is in. They will be thinking of the opposition, and how they are going to win."

The club announced on 7th December that it will head into voluntary liquidation due to an "unsustainable" financial situation.

They are now temporarily trading as new company for two more games to allow them find a permanent replacement company to take over and fulfill the remaining fixtures of the season.

The club has already been deducted 20 points for entering liquidation and has been given time till 16th January to find a permanent company for takeover subject to approval from RFU.
