London Irish have confirmed the signing of Russia international Vladimir Podrezov on a short-term deal.

Podrezov has been playing in the Professional Rugby League for Russian club VVA Podmoskovye but now has linked up with the Gallagher Premiership club for the remainder of the ongoing season.

The 27-year-old made his international debut for Russia in 2015 and has gone on to play 34 Tests including two games in the 2019 World Cup in Japan.

“I am really happy to be here” said Podrezov to official website of the club.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for me and one I am really looking forward to.

“Everyone at the Club has been really welcoming to me and I’m excited about helping the team out between now and the end of the season.”

London Irish director of rugby Declan Kidney is delighted with the addition of Podrezov to the squad.

“Vlad will add to our front-row options for the remainder of the season," he said.

“He’s settled in well and we’re looking forward to working with him.”

London Irish are positioned sixth in the Gallagher Premiership table with six wins from 16 games.
