London Irish sign George Robson on one-year contract

Former Harlequins lock George Robson has made a switch from Oyonnax to London Irish on a one-year contract.

After being part of the Quins for nine years, Robson joined the Top14 French club in summer season of 2015 where he made 15 appearances. He has also represented England Saxons, Under 16 and Under 18 teams.

The Exiles had a disappointing outing in the previous season and was relegated from the Aviva Premiership after finishing last in the tournament.

Expressing his excitement to be part of the London Irish club, Robson is determined to help his side gain a promotion to the Premiership rugby in the upcoming season.

"I'm excited to have signed for London Irish and I'm looking forward to the challenge of trying to win promotion back to the Premiership," said Robson.

"I'm really looking forward to working with the coaches and players, and to train at the fantastic Hazelwood complex," he added.

Meanwhile, London Irish Head of Rugby Operations Glenn Delaney believes the experience of Robson will benefit the club as they bid to return to the Premiership in the 2017-18 season.

"George is a fantastic signing for the club and his experience and influence both on and off the field will be invaluable for us.

"He is a very talented lock who has played at the very highest level and I look forward to welcoming him to the club."
