Leicester Tigers have announced that former England international Tom Youngs will take an indefinite leave from the club to take care of his wife Tiffany, who is battling an illness.

Youngs has not featured for the club in this season and was replaced as captain by Ellis Genge.

"Tigers are offering support in all forms to Tom and the Youngs family during this period.

"The period of leave will remain indefinite for Tom, as long as the Tigers forward feels necessary to remain in Norfolk.

"At this time, the Youngs family have requested privacy and there will be no further comment from Tom, the Youngs family or Leicester Tigers on this matter."

Tiffany Youngs was diagnosed with cancer in 2014 during which Youngs pulled out of England's tour of New Zealand that year.

Leicester Tigers currently are at the top of the Gallagher Premiership table with five wins from as many games and will face Sale Sharks in the sixth round at Mattioli Woods Welford Road Stadium on 23rd October.
