Lawrence Dallaglio Marks Two-Year RWC 2015 Countdown

Exactly two years ahead of the 2015 World Cup, 2003 World Cup winner Lawrence Dallaglio celebrates the countdown in West London.

England will host the 2015 World Cup after having done so in 1991 as well as hosted matches in 1999.

Dallaglio, who was holding a coaching clinic in London, says:

"Today is about celebrating two years to go until Rugby World Cup which is a big milestone. The Rugby World Cup will be taking place in two years time in England in 2015, we are here at Inwood Park in Hounslow where we have launched the posts in the park campaign.

"Behind us you can see the Rugby World Cup posts. As of today, a hundred set of posts will be put all over the country, mainly in the ten host rugby nations (cities) and the purpose of that is to commemorate the two years to go but also to get people talking, thinking, inspired by rugby and and just to get people excited about the fact that amazing, big global sporting event is going to be happening here in two years time."

The first Rugby World Cup tournament was held in 1987, and featured 16 teams and 32 matches. Various changes have subsequently been made to the competiton and in 2015, 20 teams will play 48 matches.

Dallaglio adds that the growing popularity of the game is another reason to celebrate.

"Rugby World Cup is getting bigger and bigger and bigger, rugby generally is bigger. The first Rugby World Cup only took place in 1978, we've already seen the growth of the game.

"Hopefully after 2015 and England's turn to host the tournament, the game will grow even more, the sevens (IRB World Sevens) is happening all over the world, sevens has just been taken into the Olympic games as of 2016 so Rio (de Janeiro) will see a truly, global international feel to sevens.

"The game is growing and hopefully with the World Cup here in 2015 we can make it grow even faster and make it even bigger."
