Scorecard

Beauden Barrett contributed with 20 points including the decisive converted try in the closing stages as New Zealand went on to edge out Australia by 35-29 and went on to retain the Bledisloe Cup in the Rugby Championship clash in Dunedin.

Australia completely dominated the first quarter with Israel Folau, Michael Hooper and Bernard Foley as they claimed a 17 point lead. However, Reiko Ioane and Aaron Smith helped the world champions bounce back with a try each as they ended the first half with a three point deficit.

With the third quarter ending point less, Barrett got New Zealand into the lead for the firs time with a converted try in the 61st minute but five minutes later Will Genia strolled past the post as Wallabies maintained a slender one point lead.

Ben Smith's 70th minute touchdown gave some breathing space for Steve Hansen's men but his efforts were negated by Kurtley Beale's try that came five minutes later.

As the closing stages were approaching, Wallabies continued to maintain their one point lead until Barrett scored the decisive converted try with two minutes left to seal a six point win for the All Blacks.
