Izzy Noel-Smith scored a 79th-minute try to hand England Women an 8-3 win over Ireland at Twickenham Stoop.

The hosts won a late penalty and opted to go for touch rather than kick a penalty and were rewarded when Noel-Smith crossed after Abbie Scott claimed the line-out five metres out.

England led 3-0 through a Lauren Cattell penalty in the first half but the scores were levelled when Ireland captain Niamh Briggs bisected the posts in the 73rd minute.

But England scored the only try of the game in the closing moments to seal victory.
