Jordie Barrett kicked 14 points as Hurricanes completed a 31-22 win to hand Crusaders their first defeat in the 2017 Super Rugby season at Westpac Stadium on Saturday.

Crusaders got off to a fantastic start that came through a double from Seta Tamanivalu as they raced to a 12-0 lead. Hurricanes' response came through Jordie, who scored a converted try in the 31st minute as they trailed by three points at half time.

Hurricanes got into lead for the first time in the game after Julian Savea crossed over at the start of the second half with Barrett adding the conversion.

Israel Dagg's try in the 54th minute helped Crusaders reclaim a eight point lead but Wes Goosen and Vaea Fifita both strolled past the post as the Super Rugby champions completed a 31-22 win.

Hurricanes finished second in New Zealand Conference that was topped by Crusaders despite the defeat.
