Joe Cowell joins Bedford Blues on short-term loan

Prop Joe Cowell has moved to Bedford Blues on a month-long loan and is set to feature against Caldy in tomorrow’s Championship Rugby fixture at Goldington Road.

Cowell, who joined Cardiff ahead of the 2024-25 season, has made four appearances this campaign in the ongoing campiagn.

With both Cardiff Rugby and Cardiff RFC currently without fixtures, the 23-year-old has been made available to gain additional game time.

He linked up with Bedford immediately and has been named among the replacements for the upcoming match.

Cardiff assistant coach Corniel van Zyl said the loan would provide Cowell with valuable exposure to a different competitive environment.

“This is a great opportunity for Joe to gain some experience in a new environment and in a different competition during an important stage in his development.

“We wish Joe and Bedford Blues all the best for the weeks ahead and look forward to welcoming him back to the Arms Park with a new experience under his belt.”
