Benetton Treviso have announced the signing of Italy international Leonardo Sarto on a one-year deal ahead of the 2019/20 season.
The 6ft 3in winger made his professional rugby debut with Zebre in 2012 and moved to Glasgow Warriors in 2016 before making his debut in the Premiership for Leicester Tigers in 2018.
The 27-year-old's move to Benetton will help him revive his international career with Italy after featuring in 34 Tests with the last of it coming during the November series in 2017.
“Coming to train here was done off-the-cuff and I think that’s the beauty. I wanted to stay in shape and Benetton was happy to give me a hand to do it. Staff and team-mates immediately welcomed me and treated me like a green and white player," he told the official website of the club.
“Three years abroad have allowed me to mature as a person. I hope to bring my experience and contribute positively on the field throughout the season.”
“We are happy to include Leonardo in the squad and, after a troubled and injury-hit season, he will be able to return to the levels we all know,” the club's sporting director Antonio Pavanello said.
“These weeks of training with us allowed both parties to assess the situation well.”
