Former Wallabies outside back Israel Folau is set to make a comeback to international rugby after being named in Tonga squad for the Pacific Nations Cup in July.

The 33-year-old will also be part of the squad that will compete in play-off for next year's World Cup in France with the winner set to be part of Pool B that also has South Africa, Ireland and Scotland along with a team from Europe.

Tonga will be taking on Fiji, Samoa and Australia A team during the Pacific Nations Cup that will be played between 2nd and 16th July.

Folau's national contract with the Wallabies was terminated by Rugby Australia in May 2019 following his homophobic comments in social media following which he sued the board for €9.3 million for damages.

Having represented the Wallabies in 73 games, including five appearances in the 2015 World Cup, the 32-year-old dual-code international went on to represent Japan's Shining Arcs in 2022.
