London Welsh were soundly beaten by in-form French side Bordeaux-Begles in Thursday's European Challenge Cup encounter at the Kassam Stadium.

Aviva Premiership side Welsh, who are yet to win this season, were despatched 52-20 by Bordeaux, who currently sit third in the Top 14 standings.

Although Welsh managed tries through Seb Jewell and Daniel Browne, and Olly Barkley kicked two penalties and two conversions, Bordeaux ran in seven tries to pick up a bonus point.

Lucas Blanc, Metuisela Talebula, Clement Maynadier, Matthew Clarkin, Pierre Bernard and Darly Domvo (twice) touched down for the visitors.

Fly-half Bernard kicked all six of his conversions and a penalty before replacement Lionel Beauxis landed a conversion.

Bordeaux led 31-7 at the break.and now sit top of Pool Four with six poitns ahead of Edinburgh (four points) and Lyon (five points) meeting at Murrayfield tonight.

Welsh sit bottom with no points.
