Great Britain womens skipper Emily Scarratt led from the front as she scored two tries in the second half to help her team progress to the quarterfinals of the Rio Olympics rugby sevens.

Alice Richardson started the proceedings scoring the opening try which was followed by a touchdown by Amy Wilson-Hardy as Great Britain went into half-time with a lead of 10-0.

Scarratt further extended Great Britain's dominance by scoring two tries in the second half and Richardson added the extras, ensuring a 22-0 victory over Canada. The result also means Great Britain are yet to concede a try in the tournament and have scored a total of 91 points.

The Great Britain team now will face the second placed Group A team Fiji in the quarterfinals.

Meanwhile, New Zealand have maintained their unbeaten record defeating France 26-7 and will take on USA, who was one of the best third-placed teams.

Spain managed to sneak through as the second best third-placed team and will now lock horns with Australia, who won two games and managed a 12-12 draw against the USA while Canada and France will meet each other in the remaining quarterfinal.
