Gloucester Rugby have confirmed that centre Mark Atkinson will miss the remainder of the ongoing 2022/23 season following a knee injury.

The 32-year-old sustained the injury during the closing stages of their recently concluded Premiership game against Bath Rugby which the Cherry and Whites went on to win 21-17.

Gloucester COO Alex Brown revealed the news on Atkinson and assured that the medical team will work closely with him during his rehabilitation.

“We’re hugely disappointed to lose someone of Mark’s quality for the remainder of the season.

"He’s a key part of our squad and will remain an important voice for us behind the scenes.

“We know that he’ll be working extremely diligently with our medical team during this period off the pitch to recover as quickly as he can.”

Gloucester currently are at seventh place in the table with two wins from three matches.
