France forward Oscar Jegou is facing disciplinary scrutiny after being cited for an alleged act of foul play during Les Bleus’ 50-40 Six Nations defeat to Scotland at Murrayfield.

Oscar Jégou Cited After Scotland v France Match

Tournament organisers have confirmed that Jégou will appear before an independent disciplinary committee on March 10 after being cited under Law 9.12. The charge relates to alleged contact with the eye or eye area of Scotland hooker Ewan Ashman during the match.

At this stage, Jégou has been cited but no sanction has yet been imposed. The hearing will determine whether France will be without the back-rower for the closing stages of the championship or beyond.

France Six Nations Title Race Complicated

The development comes at a difficult time for France after the defeat in Edinburgh reopened the title race. Scotland’s victory kept them firmly in contention, while Ireland also remain in the picture heading into the final round.

France now approach their decisive match against England knowing both the result and bonus-point scenario could shape the championship outcome. Any suspension to Jégou would further complicate preparations.

Independent Hearing Scheduled

"France (No.7), Oscar Jégou, will attend an independent disciplinary hearing after he was cited for an act of foul play contrary to Law 9.12 (A player must not physically or verbally abuse anyone. Physical abuse includes, but is not limited to, biting, punching, contact with the eye or eye area, striking with any part of the arm, shoulder, head or knee(s), stamping, trampling, tripping or kicking in the Men’s Six Nations Championship match between Scotland and France on Saturday, March 7 2026," read a statement from the Six Nations.

"The player will attend the hearing via video conference before an independent Disciplinary Committee comprising Simon Thomas (Chair), Christopher Morgan and John Langford.

"The hearing will take place on Tuesday, March 10 2026, at 9.30 (GMT)".
