France prop Mohamed Haouas has been handed a four-week ban following his red card incident in the recently concluded Six Nations game against Scotland in Paris last weekend.

Haouas was red carded in the ninth minute of the game for a dangerous tackle on Scotland scrum-half Ben White and his absence surrendered France's numerical advantage in the game as Scotland's Grant Gilchrist was also sent-off few minutes earlier.

He appeared before an independent judicial committee and was initially handed a six-week suspension.

Nevertheless, the ban was reduced by two weeks taking into account his conduct during hearing, guilty plea, lack of intent and other mitigating factors.

It means, Haouas will miss France's Six Nations games against England and Wales along with Montpellier’s fixture at Perpignan in the Top 14. He might be available for his club's clash against Exeter Chiefs in the Heineken Champions Cup if he takes part in the Coaching Intervention Programme.

Meanwhile, Gilchrist is awaiting the news on his suspension after a reckless tackle on Anthony Jelonch.
