France and Toulon flanker Charles Ollivon has been ruled out for the remainder of the rugby season due to a significant shoulder injury. This setback sidelines him from key fixtures, including the upcoming Six Nations tournament.

The 30-year-old, a pivotal figure in the French national team, sustained the injury during Toulon's recent Top 14 clash. Subsequent medical examinations revealed the severity of the damage, necessitating surgery and an extended recovery period.

Ollivon’s absence deals a significant blow to France’s Six Nations ambitions as they aim to defend their title. Known for his leadership and dynamic play, the former captain has been a consistent presence in Les Bleus’ back row.

France head coach Fabien Galthié will now need to assess options to fill the void left by Ollivon. The likes of François Cros, Anthony Jelonch, and Dylan Cretin may be called upon to step up during the championship.

At the club level, Toulon will feel the impact of Ollivon’s absence as they navigate the crucial stages of the Top 14 and European competitions.

While the timeline for Ollivon’s recovery extends through the season, fans and teammates remain hopeful for his full return ahead of next year’s fixtures.

France will kick-start their 2025 Six Nations campaign with a clash against Wales in Paris on 31st January.
