Northampton Saints have confirmed that fly-half Fin Smith has signed a new multi-year contract to stay at cinch Stadium at Franklin’s Gardens.

The 23-year-old has become a key figure since arriving from Worcester Warriors in 2022, making 63 appearances and scoring 589 points.

Smith has already earned 11 England caps and was part of the British & Irish Lions squad for the 2025 tour of Australia.

His rise at Saints has been marked by back-to-back Young Player of the Season awards, the Players’ Player of the Season accolade, and a starring role in the club’s Gallagher Premiership title win in 2024. He also helped guide the side to last season’s Investec Champions Cup final.

Reflecting on his journey, Smith said: “I’ve loved my time at Saints so far and feel like I’ve developed massively as a person on and off the pitch.

"Staying in Northampton felt right.

"I am close to my family here, and I genuinely love coming to work every day – being surrounded by my best mates, playing the kind of rugby that suits me, and working within a coaching set-up that brings out the best in all of us.”

Saints Director of Rugby Phil Dowson hailed the extension: “Fin is a world-class player who’s been outstanding for us since he joined.

"He stepped up after the demise of Worcester Warriors and into Dan Biggar’s role without hesitation. He’s ambitious, hungry to improve, and a natural leader.”

Northampton are positioned seventh in the PREM Rugby table after managing a 33-33 draw against Exeter Chiefs in the opening round of the competition.
