Nikola Matawalu insists party-loving Fiji are hoping to ruin England's World Cup celebrations when they clash in Friday's curtain raiser to the tournament.

The Islanders will arrive at Twickenham with a team being heralded as the best in their history and having spent the summer in camp together, the Pacific Nations Cup holders are better prepared than ever been before.

Bath-bound scrum-half Matawalu, whose quick wits and vision identify him as Fiji's heartbeat, believes they are capable of opening a fiercely competitive Pool A with a stunning upset of the World Cup hosts.

"It's the occasion Fijians love, a party. It will be amazing to be a part of that. Maybe we can spoil England's party. Game is game, one will win and one will lose. We'll see," he said.

"The 23 players who are selected will be lucky. It's the opening game of the World Cup, held at Twickenham and against England - it's interesting.

"As we can see, we're in the pool of death! There are top teams there. We'll come as underdogs and see what happens.

"We respect all the teams in our group. But when it comes to the games, it will be a different story altogether."
