All Blacks prop Ethan de Groot has recommitted his future to New Zealand Rugby, Highlanders and Southland after signing a new contract until 2026.

The 24-year-old made his professional rugby debut with provincial side Southland in 2018 with his Super Rugby debut for Highlanders coming in 2020.

His consistent performances for Highlanders saw him earn New Zealand debut in 2021 and since then has gone on to feature in 13 Tests for the All Blacks.

“It was an easy decision to stay in New Zealand,” said de Groot.

“All I want to do is play for my country and represent my home region.”

New Zealand Rugby Mark Robinson is pleased with de Groot extending his stay with the All Blacks and Highlanders.

“We are proud of the work Ethan has put into his career so far,” said Robinson. “We believe in him and will continue to support his growth at all levels.”

With his sights set on the Rugby World Cup later this year, de Groot has been pushing his case with strong performances for the Highlanders, particularly with his scrummaging.
