England head coach Steve Borthwick has left out experienced scrum-half Ben Youngs from the Six Nations squad ahead of the second round game against Italy.

Youngs, the most-capped player for England has been an integral part of the side under Eddie Jones but now has been dropped by Borthwick after his performance against Scotland.

Jack van Poortvliet, who started in the previous game has retained his place in the squad with scrum-half Alex Mitchell likely to start on the bench.

Ben Curry, who was part of the England line up in the previous game has lost his place with Jack Willis taking his place while Henry Arundell replace Anthony Watson in the 29-man squad announced by Borthwick.

"I think we have tried to pick a squad that reflects how we want to play this week and our view internally is that just because we pick a 15, or a 23, it is not them and us and we cast aside players," Sinfield told Sky Sports.

"We think everyone has been a huge part of where we are at so far but we are trying to be specific in how we select for each particular opposition.

"So, I am disappointed for the lads who have gone home, they have been outstanding again this week in training, but like I said we are picking a squad that we think will get the job done at the weekend."
