England coach Steve Borthwick has named a 28-man training squad for the upcoming Rugby World Cup to be played in France later this year.

Joe Marler, who last played for England in the 2022 Six Nations tournament is included in the squad with Bath scrum-half Ben Spencer also recalled for the first time since 2019.

Danny Care, who last played for the side during the previous summer is also recalled but players from Leicester Tigers, Northampton Saints, Sale Sharks and Saracens, who were part of the Premiership semi-finals were not considered for selection.

Billy Vunipola, Luke Cowan-Dickie and Ollie Chessum will be part of the training camp as they recover from their respective injuries.
