England prop Emmanuel Iyogun has signed a new contract with Northampton Saints, committing his future to the club beyond the current Gallagher PREM campaign.
Iyogun extends Northampton stay
The 25-year-old loosehead has made 104 senior appearances for Saints after progressing through the club’s academy and has been part of two Gallagher PREM title-winning campaigns.
Iyogun becomes the fourth England international to sign a new Northampton deal this season, following Tommy Freeman, Henry Pollock and Tom Pearson.
“Staying at Saints was a very easy decision for me, a real no-brainer,” Iyogun said. “I love the Club. I’ve grown up here, come through the Academy, and now get to play alongside a lot of the same people who have been part of that journey with me.”
Academy prospect to England international
Born in Madrid and raised in Basildon, Iyogun began playing rugby at 14 after initially pursuing football. He joined Southend RFC before entering Northampton’s academy pathway in 2016.
Originally a back-row forward, Iyogun switched to loosehead prop after signing his first professional contract in 2019.
By the 2021/22 season, Iyogun was firmly established in Northampton’s first-team squad, making 20 appearances during the campaign.
He reached his 100th Saints appearance in June 2026 and earned his first senior England cap the following month, coming off the bench during England’s 31-24 Nations Championship victory over Argentina in Santiago del Estero.
Saints secure another key player
Iyogun helped Northampton win the 2024 Gallagher PREM title and started the 2026 PREM final as Saints defeated Exeter Chiefs 26-17 to claim a second league championship in three seasons.
Director of rugby Phil Dowson praised Iyogun’s progression from the academy into an England international and described his development as a strong example of what Northampton’s pathway can produce.
“Manny’s story is a brilliant one for the Club and a fantastic example of what our pathway can produce," said Dowson.
“From coming through the Academy to becoming a centurion and England international, he’s earned every opportunity through his hard work, resilience and willingness to keep developing.”
