Relief, we should have won in 2000. 2001 we were by far the best team.
You were awarded the Australia job, were you nervous about taking up the job?
No everything to gain, nothing to lose.
Australia lost the Rugby World Cup Final of course to England in the 2003 RWC, what were your thoughts after the game about the whole tournament?
Never been more disappointed in my life. The World Cup medal “ gold is the only one you want.
When you came to help Saracens out in the Aviva Premiership, what did you think of the Northern Hemisphere teams?
Tough competition, technically outstanding teams “ physically good.
Was it strange helping out Jake White at the 2007 Rugby World Cup after you were coaching Australia at the previous Rugby World Cup?
No “ rugby is a world game, Australia divorced me, so I needed to move on.
What is the standard of Rugby like in Japan?
Improving, top 4 teams are good.
Is the national team improving?
Slowly “ but needs to develop its own style of play.
Alot of big stars will be playing in Japan soon, Fourie Du Preez, Danie Roussouw, Mils Muliania, James Haskell plus others. Is it good for the Japanese league to have this exposure to these players?
Yes “ 100% - they lift standards
