Wales international Dan Lydiate is all set to undergo a shoulder surgery, which will keep him on the sidelines for the next three months.

Lydiate, who was captaining Wales in the Old Mutual Wealth Cup against England in the absence of regular skipper Sam Warburton, left the field in the 28th minute following which a statement by the Welsh Rugby Union confirmed that the 28-year-old is ruled out of the upcoming Test series against All Blacks in June.

Anthony Carter, the physio of Ospreys confirmed that the flanker has decided to undergo the surgery after consulting a shoulder specialist.

"Dan sustained a significant injury to the AC joint in his right shoulder, caused by an impact during the England game on Sunday.

"He's been seen by Richard Evans, shoulder specialist at Spire Cardiff, who confirmed that the shoulder requires stabilisation via surgery, after which there is an expected rehab period of 12-14 weeks."

Wales have called up Cardiff Blues flanker Ellis Jenkins as the replacement for Lydiate.

Even though, Wales will miss the services of wing Alex Cuthbert and flanker Justin Tipuric apart from Lydiate, Warburton is expected to return to the line-up ahead of the first Test.

In the 30 games between the two sides, Wales have won just three while the All Blacks have won the remaining 27 matches.
