Wasps 21-3 La Rochelle, Ricoh Arena
Scorecard

Elliot Daly scored two tries as Wasps remain in contention for a play-off spot in the ongoing European Rugby Champions Cup with a 21-3 triumph over La Rochelle at Ricoh Arena on Sunday.

The result also means Dai Young's side avenged their 49-29 defeat to the French club in the previous round and have maintained their position at third in Pool 1 that is topped by La Rochelle.

Wasps suffered an early setback when Jimmy Gopperth was replaced in the sixth minute with a leg injury but they soon got their first points when Daly brushed away a weak tackle from Gabriel Lacroix to score the opening try and also added the extras.

Wasps dominated the first half-hour but as the interval approached, their opponents built up their first period of pressure but could not capitalise due to poor handling in the miserable conditions and the forgettable second quarter finished scoreless.

Daly soon helped Wasps double the lead with his second converted try that came in six minutes after the restart as Brock James took over the kicking responsibility from Ryan Lamb for the visitors.

James kicked a 59th minute penalty to finally get La Rochelle off the mark but unfortunately that remained the only points in the game for them but that came four minutes later after Daly limped off the field.

Wasps' third try came in the 72nd minute when Tom Cruse crossed over that was improved by Danny Cipriani to complete a 18-point win for the home side.
